  I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this is by far the worst airport I've ever been to. The only reason I'm not giving it a one star is because the staff was very nice and friendly. This airport makes you feel like you're entering/exiting a third world country. The resorts in the Maldives are so beautiful it's such a shame that this airport is so run down and disgusting. The views when you land and take off are gorgeous though. The temperature all across this airport is extremely warm even though there are a/c units. I went in July. The gates are all at street level for planes that are huge. The security screening was a joke. The guy looking at the x-ray machine was barely looking at the screen. It was the only time in my life I felt unsafe going through security. There are very few shops after security. The lounges for priority pass are all outside security and the good one is in the domestic terminal. We decided to take a ferry to the capital island of male for only a dollar each way. I still felt like I wasted my money. It's an overcrowded concrete jungle that smells and the air is very smoggy. Again, the staff from beginning to end was the only good thing about this airport. I really hope they renovate or build a new terminal asap. It's such a shame to go from staying at a water villa on a 5 star island resort to 1 hour later feeling like you're in a third world country. Very sad

  The best thing about the airport is the view during landing and takeoff. We get to see great views. Not a big airport and not many shops/ duty free area inside the airport. Variety also was very limited. Wifi is a challenge. Lot of food courts outside the airport. Domestic airport is also connected, so very convenient to take domestic flights. All resorts have their counters outside and they will ferry you from outside. There was only 1 screening machine after immigration leading to lot of rush and delays.

  The main airport in Maldives and very beautiful.Have a lot of facilities. Previously it was known as Ibrahim nasir international airport. Velana is the family name of the second president of Maldives, Ibrahim Nasir. The airport has domestic, international and seaplane terminals. The baggage department of this airport was very helpful to me during my travel in the year 2016 with my family. My luggage by mistake was taken by another passenger. We reported the incident to them. They contacted immediately to the Passenger. They send the luggage later to the island in which i am living.

  A beautiful airport on the island. When approaching the airport, it is a wonderful sight to look at from the plane window. The airport is well maintained. It is clean. There are lots of cafe at the airport. Being in an island, there is ferry service to go to any place. Ferry service is frequent and well connected.

  The airport is quite basic but caters to all needs of tourists. Most hotel ferries pick people directly from airport. There is a food court for quick bite. My favourite thing about this airport is the landing and take off views from the air... They are simply marvellous! Sharing shots and videos of the same.
